Can you tell me a little about the Clinic?

The Sydney Colon Health Clinic was opened in August of 1991 to fulfil a much-needed professional service in the area of Colon Health. Since August 1991, we have assisted in delivering over 70,000 treatments to some 7,000 clients.

We have 4 ultra modern treatment rooms which are sound proofed, have piped music, TV and Video. We have many health, motivational, meditation and healing videos for your entertainment while you are having your treatments. There is metered parking, and a disabled parking space directly in front of the clinic. We’re a 5 minute walk from St Leonards station, and 15 minutes from the CBD. Privacy during treatment is very important and we respect your need for that. We are with you when you need us and we are not there when you don’t.

How long does a treatment take?

Your first consultation and treatment is about two hours. You complete a comprehensive Health Appraisal; the therapist will discuss this with you to ascertain your major area of health concern. We check your blood pressure, weight and urine. We then take you into a room and go step by step through the entire procedure before commencing your first treatment which will take approximately 45 minutes. Subsequent treatments also take around 45 minutes.

What does treatment involve?

You lie on your back in a semi reclined position on our specially designed treatment units, which have a toilet built into them. The therapist passes a pencil thin, sterile, disposable, single use, lubricated rectal tube into your anus. The tube goes in about the length of your little finger, and body temperature, extra purified water slowly and gently infuses into your bowel under gravity feed.

As this takes place, you get the sensation of fullness and the subsequent need to eliminate.

When you get this feeling of fullness, you give a little push, same as you would if you were sitting on a regular toilet, faecal matter and water will be eliminated into the toilet in the treatment unit. Waste is eliminated around the rectal tube, which will stay in place.

When you finish eliminating, water will again start flowing into your bowel. You eliminate, water will again go in, and you’ll again eliminate, and over the 45 minutes, some 14 litres of purified water will empty the entire contents of your bowel. “It’s like having a shower on the inside.”

Is it a painful procedure?

For the majority of people treatment is pleasant and pain free, however in cases of toxic overload and severe bowel dysfunction there may be some cramping and nausea experienced. This feeling quickly subsides after treatment and a nice cup of herbal tea.

Is it a dangerous procedure?

All procedures orthodox or wholistic have an element of danger to them and therefore care must be taken and questions must always be asked before pursuing any therapy. If the procedure is supervised by Nursing Sisters, trained as Colon Therapists, if the tubing is sterile, single use and disposable, eliminating the risk of infection, water infused using no pressure eliminates the risk of perforation, if you are in control of the amount of water you can comfortably take into your bowel and if you can eliminate whenever you feel the need, if the water is pure, and not just tap water then there shouldn’t be any danger, and the great benefits of the treatments are yours.

If you don’t ask the questions, if you don’t take care, then the consequences are also yours.

Is the tubing sterile and single use?

At our clinic, all tubing, used in treatment, is single use and comes in a sealed, sterile pack which is opened in front of you before treatment commences so you can see exactly what’s being used.

How many treatments are usually needed?

We are all so individual so some of us need more and some may need less. Generally with our Discovery program we recommend 6 plus treatments, at weekly intervals. This however does depend on your state of health, we have recommended up to 3 treatments per week for those who suffer from chronic constipation, or are laxative dependent.

Does everyone need this type of treatment?

Everyone who has treatment will benefit and notice an improvement in their health. It may be as subtle as having a little more energy, a clearer skin, brighter eyes, a clearer mind. We also see very dramatic improvement, especially in those with bowel dysfunction. Colonic Lavage assists the liver in its detoxification process and helps clear out the bowel, which is the sewer system of the body. Just remember, the blood that washes through your sewer system also washes through every organ in your body including your brain.

We also have great results with chronic constipation. As the bowel and perastalsis are stimulated by treatment, it often wakes up and remembers the job it is supposed to do. As the muscles strengthen, and the “gut brain” again understands the process amazing changes occur.

Is one treatment enough?

After a life time of abuse it is impossible to detoxify the body, and re-educate the bowel to work properly in just one 45 minute treatment. So the simple answer is NO. If you are a bit hesitant, have one treatment and see how you go, if you feel positive after this first treatment, you may then decide to continue, if not, and you find this therapy “is not for you,” then don’t have more. The choice is yours.

Who does the treatments?

All treatments are supervised by female Registered Nursing Sisters, fully trained as Colon Therapists.

How will I feel after a treatment?

Most people feel great afterwards! We have a number of clients who have a treatment during their lunch hour and then go back to work, but how you will feel really depends on how toxic you are, and what brought you to us in the first place.

Do you have to be a certain age? and is it more for women than men?

Anyone who has a bowel problem, regardless of age or gender, will usually benefit from Colonic Lavage Therapy. Our youngest client is 2 years of age and our most senior is 94 years old. For the very young we do ask that a letter from a doctor be provided, and for young adults under 16 years, we require that they be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For the elderly, or a person needing assistance, we also ask that they be accompanied by someone who can assist them before and after treatment.

Do you need any special preparation before a treatment?

No, not at all! It is not wise to eat a really heavy meal before you come for treatment, but please do not do your own preparation by taking laxatives or fasting.

Do you need to book ahead?

Yes. We recommend you book at least one week in advance, to ensure your preferred time and date.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, we require 24 hours notice of cancellation / change of an appointment. If insufficient notice is given, a cancellation fee will be charged. This policy applies to your first and subsequent visits. We ask that you furnish us with Credit Card details at the time of booking, so as to secure your appointment. If you do not attend your appointment, your credit card will be charged this fee.
